million to fund Ohio’s statewide energy plan, a $96 milliob package of energy-efficiency improvements announced by the statdein May. The award brings to $48 million the totao amount of stimulus funding committed to the Ohio which callsfor $43 million in state grants for wind biofuels, recycling and several other sustainabilityg initiatives. It also calls for the developmeng ofa $30 million revolving loan fund to financde energy-efficiency improvements. In its May 12 proposalk to DOE, Ohio officials detailed the pland for theloan pool.
“Through an “Energu Alliance” initiative, federal stimulus dollars would serve as match-funding for other sources including banks, nonprofitsx and investors willing to offerr debt, equity, or low-interest financing for energy projectz in the commercial, industrial, institutional, and aggregated residential sectors,” said the report. The DOE press release indicates Ohio would receive anadditional $48 million funding if it “meetz reporting, oversight, and accountability required by the American Recovergy and Reinvestment Act.

Ohiorecovery.org provides linkx to three new bidding opportunities fromthe , including a $190 millio program in which local Workforce Investment Boards will compete for grantws of up to $6 milliojn for “One Stop Career Center” operations. The Labor Departmenr is also making grant s upto $4 million available to work forcre boards interested in collaborating on the developmen t of a labor force for the energy efficiency and renewable energy industries.
Anothee Labor Department program wouldmake $5 millionh available for worker training in greeb industries. Its invitation for grant applications indicates between 50 and 100 grantsa will beawarded nationwide. The Laborf Department also is inviting applications for grantsz of upto $8 milliohn for training programs that combag poverty. Awards will be made on a local andnationaol basis.
