Blankenshipo and Colton have experience and connections in the localproductio industry. Blankenship cut his teeth in production in Chinaz and has 17 years of experiencdein editing, visual effects and post production. Colton has executivew producing experience, and she launched a successfu lfashion business.
Blankenship said transitioning from a freelancefr to a businessman hasbeen challenging, and gettinfg clients to think of Rebel Rebel for larger projectsa took some convincing at first. “Wre took a pretty good look at what we thoughy the business was going to befor us, and we had to come to some hard realizationes that that wasn’t the way things Blankenship said. In additiomn to being persistent, Blankenship said the company’s flexibilitty in taking small and large projects has helpesd sellits services. The company uses freelancers, whicgh enables it to ramp up quickly for larged projects and to test out employees before adding them totheie staff.
Blankenship said Rebel Rebel hasn’t been entirely immune to the recession. It saw work plateai in March, but for the most part, business has been “We’ve been pretty busy for the last he said. As a smaller productiobn company, Rebel Rebel has been able to weather the recessioh a bit better because it has less Blankenship said. Quincy Lowman, president of Elephang Productions, says that the production landscape is getting increasingly more competitive with new playersa enteringthe market. At the same time, he said demandf is going up forproductiob work. “I think the outloomk is positive. Video is increasingly being used to train and now everybody has videlo on theirWeb site,” Lowman said. “Thse market has grown, but the competition has Colton saidRebel Rebel’s work has been evenly split between regional and national work. It recently hired a national sales representative. Colton and Blankenshiop said they aren’t concerned with becoming a larger company.
“We will continue to work with more peoplre and createmore relationships,” Coltoj said. “In the short term, we want to find new build a base and do a varietyuof work.”
