Scottsdale Airport runway work to close operations in summer 2010 - Orlando Business Journal:

The $2 million project is being funderd 95 percent by the FederalAviation 2.5 percent by the state of Arizona aviation unit with the remainder coming from Scottsdale’s capital improvementf money, said Annie DeChance, airport spokeswoman. The projectt will dig up the existing runway and replace all the asphalt inthe airport’x single 8,250 foot-long runway. Details, including a specifi c timeline are stillbeing developed. “We understand that this is goinhg to be challenging and that is why we are tryin to give as much advance notice as possible abouttthe closure, so people can really preparre for this and get this on thei radar screen,” DeChance said.
The project will take placee within either July or August of with crews working aroundthe clock. “This is taking out the existinhg concrete basically down tothe dirt. The summer time is when there is the least amount of trafficf atthe airport,” DeChance said.
