The Washington, D.C.-based think tank has begun analyzing the impact of the recessionthroughout America’sw metropolitan areas. In the first of a serieas of quarterlyMetroMonitor reports, Brookingse ranked San Antonio, Oklahoma Austin, Houston and Dallas as the top five metro areas in the country in economicd performance in the wake of the Brookings ranked the top 100 metropolitan areaws based on six key indicators — employment, unemployment wages, gross metropolitan product, housing prices and foreclosure rates. This initial MetroMonitor report coverxs the first quarterof 2009.
