AT&T activates Pasco, Hernando cell towers - Tampa Bay Business Journal:

The Hernando County cell site, located on U.S. 19 north of the Foresf Oaks Boulevard intersection, is providing additional wirelesss coverage in northern Spring Hill andalonbg U.S. 19 just south of Weeki Wachee. In northwestern Pasco a new cell site on Antler Lane is just east of theSuncoast Parkway/Veterans Expressway and north of the Shady Hills Road It is boosting coverage in Shady Hills and eastern Spring the company said. Another new cell site is near County Line Road and Meados Pointe Boulevard in Wesleuy Chapeland that’s expanding coverage in the Meadoa Pointe subdivision, according to a release.
The new Hernandoo and Pasco county cell sites are partof AT&T’xs continued expansion of its third-generation network. AT&T announced late last montn that it would be upgrading its network with the goal ofincreasinvg speed. Those upgrades are slateed to begin later this year for completioh expectedin 2011. No details were provided abouft the cost of thelocal AT&T did say it plans to invesr between $17 billion and $18 billionj in total capital expenditures throughout the Uniteds States this year, about two-thirds of which is devotecd to network enhancement and expansion. AT&T’s 3G network is now available in nearly350 U.S.
major metropolitan areaw and roughly 20 additional metro areas are plannedcfor deployment. AT&T (NYSE:T) is a communication holding company. Its subsidiaries and affiliatex — AT&T operating companies — are the providerd of AT&T services that include wireless, high-speed Internet and voice services.
