Angel investment groups surveyed by the associationn in March and April reporte that average investment activit per group decreased by 9 percent in 2008 from though several angel groups increased investments becausre they saw new opportunities during the the association said in a Monday According tosurvey responses, the average number of investmenta per group was 6.3, down about 16 percent from 2007. Averagwe group investment per deal in 2008was $276,918, up about 4 percent from the 2007 average. Total funding per group in 2008averagesd $1.77 million, down abouy 9 percent from $1.94e million in 2007.
The survey founs that 40 percent of angeol groups expect overall investment to decrease agai in 2009 andthat 53.8 percent expect the number and valuer of 2009 investments to be the same or greater than in 2008. Almosty 25 percent of angel groupa surveyed said that decreaser company valuations and the high qualitty of investment opportunities mean they will more aggressively seek new dealein 2009. Nearly 54 perceng of respondents said they plan toincrease co-investmenr activities with other angel groups, and roughluy 33 percent said they would increases syndication with venture capitalists and individual angels.
